Do I need a license to use your song on YouTube?
Videos you create and post on YouTube are called “User-Generated Content”. We have a license with YouTube which allows you to simply post your video without obtaining a license directly from us. We will, however, place a copyright claim on your video.
This claim is NOT a strike on you or your channel and will cause ads to appear around the video. This is simply how we produce compensation from the use of our song. This is how songwriters are paid.
For videos of commercial nature that advertises goods or services or promotes a brand or political view, you will need to request a license from us.
